Beyond Naive RAG: Solving Hallucinations in Enterprise AI
Most early-stage Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) demos fail in production because naive vector embeddings match semantic similarity rather than precise factual intent. When querying hundreds of pages of complex financial audits, legal contracts, or technical manuals, naive search returns irrelevant chunks, causing language models to hallucinate.
At **Verve Nova AI Labz**, we design production-grade RAG systems that achieve 98%+ retrieval accuracy. Here is our architectural pipeline.
1. Advanced Document Parsing & Semantic Chunking
Standard chunking by character count breaks sentences mid-thought and destroys tabular relationships.
2. Hybrid Search: Dense Vector + BM25 Keyword Search
Relying exclusively on dense vector embeddings misses exact product SKU codes, customer IDs, and legal case numbers.
3. Cross-Encoder Reranking
The top 20 candidate documents are passed to a lightweight cross-encoder model (such as `bge-reranker-large`). The reranker scores each document against the query simultaneously, weeding out false positives and feeding only the top-3 most relevant snippets to the LLM.
